===================================================================================== Not Straight Not Sure Leader, Delaine Due Speaks Out
Listen up Community!
First of all, thank you to the LCCA Board for giving so much opportunity and support to Not Straight Not Sure this year. This dance thing is rollin'!
This Brokeback Prom is going to be so much fun. The youth have great ideas and are sooooo excited. Please come out and support NSNS. The group serves 10-20 youth every month with on-line, phone and group support. Members travel from Grants Pass and Ashland and even Yreka on occasion. Once a member came from Shasta! The group is completely volunteer and donation based. Youth, adult and family, queer and straight-allied presence and financial support will make such an incredible impact on the lives of these youth who are motivated to give back to you through this night-o-fun.
Many of the youth who come through the group have conflicted relationships with family and schools and work based on their sexual orientation and gender expression. NSNS provides a safe place for life support and lots of healthy laughter and hugs. With the money raised from this event extravaganza, the youth group will be able to achieve some long time desires such as scholarships for books in school, support for gas money to get to group from out of town, conference expenses, emergency housing for a night, a printed brochure, books and video library.
So get those hats and boots and poker faces out and come have a great time. Look forward to dancing, games, the Gender-Blind King and Queen Contest, the Belt Buckle Contest, Grab Bags and get your photo taken at the prom you may have never had. This time--dress how you like and bring who you like without discrimination or harassment.
See you there. Yeeeeehaaaaawww!

June 5th New Location for Gay AA Ashland MeetingsStarting June 5th, open AA meetings will now be held each Monday at 6:30 to 7:30PM in the Abdill-Ellis Lambda Community Center, 208 Oak Street, (the Historic Armory Building) Suites 112 and 113. This meeting is open to everyone on the planet.
Recycle Inkjet & Toner Cartridges & Help The Center
Recycle to benefit The Abdill-Ellis Lambda Community Center
We Need Your Help
The Center, as a local non-profit,has an equal opportunity to gain revenue $$$ through a recycling program of inkjet and laser toner cartridges. Recycling has become one of the most important activities that we can do today to protect our environment.
How It Works:
The collection carton and free shipping bags are now available at the Center on May 22. Everyone, please consider participating in this program. Either bring in your used cartridges, or pick up some bags for use at your home. You can even ask your employer if they would like to participate. Free shipping bags can be sent directly to your office, and then the proceeds will be sent to the registered non-profit involved, i.e. the Abdill-Ellis Center.
June 7th The “Wilde Life” Airing Wednesday Evenings
The "Wilde Life" will continue to re-broadcast their first six shows on Wednesday evenings at 10:00 PM.
On June 5th Dennis and Scott will be meeting with Rogue Valley TV to negotiate time for more programs.
The show profiles gay men in the Rogue Valley, and is hosted by Scott Clay, and is produced and directed by Dennis Vickoren. Dennis is attempting to show viewers that we are not that much different from everyone else, to show that young people are struggling with their sexuality, and can watch and see that gay people – can have a good life’ and he recognizes there is a high instance of suicide in gay teens and feels one reason is lack of support from the community. Including a lack of positive role models, and no place to turn when in need. "If I can help one all the effort will be worth it" said Dennis.
The Wilde Life can be seen on Charter cable, channel 31 in Jackson County, on channel 15 in Josephine County, and on Ashland Fiber Network channel 95 and on the Internet at www.roguetv.org; click on community and then click on Live Streaming Video. You may email the show at wildelife@charter.net.
July 9th Men’s Pot LuckOn Sunday, July 9, 2006 Dennis Vickoren and Scott Clay will co-host the monthly Men's Potluck at Scott's boyhood home in east Medford. The event starts at 4:00 PM, will include swimming (sorry, suits required!) and continues to 8:00 PM. Dinner will be around 6:30 PM. Please bring a dish to share, your beverage of choice and a folding chair.
Scott's parents, A.L. and Duane Clay live at: 4199 Cherry Lane. Their driveway is off of a private dirt road.
Directions: from North Phoenix Road turn east on Cherry Lane and travel 3/4 of a mile to Mary Bee Lane, turn left, at the top of this street it turns into a gravel and dirt road that generally travels easterly along the sparsely developed ridge overlooking Medford and the Rogue Valley. The driveway, which drops off to the right will be marked. Please park along the dirt road and walk down the driveway.

Well, ladies, it is almost time to get the golf clubs out and try to hit some balls. We are now meeting the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month at 12:00 Noon at Bear Creek in Medford. We have not been able to play because of the weather. So as soon as it gets better we will be out there. The driving range is great, and covered there and at Stewart Meadows.
I will be sending times and dates out soon for the golf club. Please let me know if any of you have any questions, ideas on improving our club, or dates and times you like. Give me a call and let's see what we can come up with this year.
