WinterSpring needs volunteers

WINTERSPRING CENTER FOR LIVING WITH LOSS AND GRIEF, a nonprofit organization that provides grief and loss education and support services, needs compassionate people to help grieving children, youth or adults. LBGT and queer-friendly volunteers are especially needed. After training and a background check, grief support volunteers may have the opportunity to work in play-based groups, classes involving arts, crafts or poetry and journal writing,  peer support discussion groups or with individuals. The required 28-hour grief and loss education series includes two weekends at an Ashland location: April 22-23, and 29-30. Early registration is encouraged, because this series usually fills quickly, and pre-registration is required. Actors, stage help and other volunteers are also needed for the WinterSpring Theater, without a training requirement.  For information, call 772-2527 or visit www.winterspring.org

March 21st   Next Spanish Class

For location and directions

Contact Zach 778-6126 or email Zach zax145@yahoo.com or Larry Crain at 779-9462.

Tee Corrine needs your help

March 10, 2006

As some of you already know, Tee Corinne has been diagnosed with cancer of the bile ducts, which has produced a 5.5 cm tumor in her liver.

Treatment options are now being discussed. She has stopped teaching (much to her distress) and is making as much order in her life as time and energy permit. Jean Sirius is staying with her for the duration. Jeanne Simington is handling her business affairs. She is pursuing both traditional and holistic options.

She does have emergency surgery insurance, but her bills are mounting dramatically. Any financial assistance you might be able to offer would be most appreciated. Please send checks made out to:
Tee A. Corinne

Mail to:

P.O. Box 278

Wolf Creek, OR 97497

––––––––––––––––––––––

A website and a blog have been set up to share information about her condition.

http://jeansirius.com/TeeACorinne/tee_update.html

Updates will be posted as we have them.

She wishes to thank you all so very much.

Volunteer Profile    Jim Frank

Our Tuesday, sometimes Monday, volunteer, Jim, provided us with this brief bio.

Hi, I'm Monday Jim (aka "Jack").  That I'm a healthy, blue-eyed bear of a man is a personal ad’s given.  That I'm extremely loyal, forthright and vulnerable to my loves and lovers is for the right man to appreciate.

I have retired to the valley from careers as a designer in the theatre, a university instructor, a newspaper writer/editor and an auditor for the US Treasury Department.  The one constant in all my careers that I have enjoyed has been the interpersonal relationships nurtured with my clients, students and contemporaries.

Take responsibility for your actions and emotions.  Live by the Golden Rule (not showers!).  Laugh at yourself and f…'em if they can't take a joke! These guide my life - not always successfully.

One of my goals here is to find a new life partner.  Remember, life is too short for brown shoes

For a good time call 488 6990.  (Resume available on request.  Your nude photo gets mine!)

Chicago – August 12-13, 2006

In 2005, more than 2,000 people from 45 states came together for the Out of the Darkness Overnight and raised $1.35 million net of expenses for needed suicide prevention research and programs. You can see some of the highlights from this inspiring and powerful journey online at the Out of the Darkness Overnight Inspirational Video.Turn pain into hope, darkness into light, tragedy into triumph - one step at a time. Join this remarkable journey.

Build your Team – Two at a Time

Consider joining The Overnight with a friend or a loved one. Past participants who walked with a group said that the team experience enriched their Overnight journey and make it even more powerful. As a special incentive, we are offering a discounted registration fee of $35 for walkers who register in pairs. (This is more than a 50% discount off the regular fee of $75.) This offer is only good from February 14th through 28th and both registrations must be taken by phone (888-NIGHT-05) at the same time to be eligible. Make sure you take advantage of this discount now – once February is over, there will be no other special offers available.

If you are unable to participate in the event, please consider making a donation to support a walker or the general fund. Just go to the The Overnight Web Site to the "Make a Donation" button and donate now. No matter the size of the gift, this important cause needs your help. If you have already signed up to walk – thank you for taking the first step. We encourage you to forward this email to your friends and family and get them involved in The Overnight as well.

Thank you for your past support for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Register today for The Overnight at 888-NIGHT-05. Join with a friend to receive the $35 registration fee. For more information about The Overnight, visit the The Overnight Web Site.

Women's Golf Update 2006

Well, ladies, it is almost time to get the golf clubs out and try to hit some balls.  We are now meeting the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month at 12:00 Noon at Bear Creek in Medford.  We have not been able to play because of the weather.  So as soon as it gets better we will be out there.  The driving range is great, and covered there and at Stewart Meadows.

I will be sending times and dates out soon for the golf club.  Please let me know if any of you have any questions, ideas on improving our club, or dates and times you like.  Give me a call and let's see what we can come up with this year.

All levels are welcome, and as always, Marla Corbin will be there for lessons.

Until next time.
