How Important is The Center to You?
|
We've had an unusual response to our requests for donations through the Center Post newsletter. The majority of our respondents are from out of state or from Portland!
While we are thrilled that others are interested in supporting our Center, we're concerned about our local community members. Where are you? Are people feeling so safe and accepted here in Southern Oregon that our Center is no longer necessary?
What about maintaining a Center for our questioning and queer-identified youth? Perhaps people have become so complacent and believe that our Center no longer needs ongoing financial support . . . ?
This is YOUR Center. It WILL go away without YOUR help. A small, strong contingent has kept it viable during the past year's transition. But they can't do it alone. If you want to help with programs, ideas, or energy - - - your input is always welcome!
(We currently have openings for members on the Board of Directors.) We continue to apply for grants, but these fund only specific programs, not our day-to-day operating expenses. We envision a large, independent Center once again, but does our Southern Oregon Community see the same? We need to know . . . where are you?
